african rennaissance??

I think its a strange twist of fate, that for ages, the mantra preached to african economies has been to grow cash crops for exports. nw with the looming food crisis its really back to the basics. its equally strange that in the US farmers are encouraged to grow grain for biofuels at the expense of human consumption. I suppose its a question of which of the two is the greater good, vis a vis a an equally disastrous energy crisis, what with oil hitting $130+ a barrel.

and as we know, a hungry man is an angry man, unless we start positively improving agricultural productive efficiency, surely we have a loaming calamity on our hands. But all is not lost.......
